As part of its ongoing support of the arts, the Rio Costilla Valley Studio Tour will sponsor an
Emerging Artists Show to coincide with the 2011 tour scheduled for the week-end of September 10
and 11, 2011. FOR APPLICATION FORM GOTO THE HOME PAGE

Artwork submitted this spring and summer from school age children will be exhibited at the Rio Costilla
Plaza throughout the week-end. Show visitors will be invited to vote for entries of their choice.
Prizes will be awarded to top entries. An exhibition of winning entries will be held at the Ventero
Open Press in San Luis following the Studio Tour. Our Emerging Artists will be offered a presence
on our studiotour website for a year.

We encourage aspiring artists from the area to submit prints, drawings, sculptures, weavings and pottery.
Arts education funding suffers even in good times and we know many students do not have access to
materials or classes. Thus students requiring support for completion of their entries can have access to
materials and volunteer artists from tour participants. A glass artist, a sculptor and a life-drawing
professional have already volunteered to mentor area children who request it.

Entry forms and criteria for the Emerging Artists Show will be available at the Ventero Open Press in
San Luis, and Shamrock Station in Costilla. Forms may be printed or downloaded from this website. The
studio tour  website will also have application forms after May 1. Forms will be provided to schools in
San Luis, Costilla and Questa. Area children who are presently home schooled are encouraged to
participate. If you are an individual or a business who would like to support this effort with either time or a
contribution, if you are a student who has questions about the show and would like to have an entry form
